[-New York-] Drove into NYC this evening
The trip from work was nice--45 minutes hauling ass down to Fairfield, CT, where we caught the Metro North commuter rail into Grand Central. We left work at 3:50pm and were sitting in our last-row seats at MSG at 6:40pm. Not bad to catch a Leafs game.
We tried to move to seats 8 rows up from the ice, but me in my Billabong jacket and Jason in his Columbia fleece didn't blend in with the suits on cellphones and we were asked within a minute of sitting down to show our tickets.
So back up to the 400s we went.
MSG is great for hockey. The fans are knowledgeable and possess that combination of New York attitude and humor that make them at once obnoxious and hilarious.
If only the Leafs didn't stink so bad, it would have topped the night off.
But now I know that I can make an evening game in NYC. Cool.
Hmm. This just hit me: I don't mind travelling three hours, paying $6 to park, $17 to take the train round-trip to NYC, $5.75 for a beer, $4.75 for a Hebrew National hotdog (worth the price), PLUS whatever the ticket costs, for the priviledge of seeing athletes get paid millions of dollars to chase a puck around a rink or a ball around a court.
I love suburban life. Cough.
