The War Behind the War

Today on Sujal's site I saw a link to a feature on the CBC website. The CBC interviewed 50+ journalists who were in Iraq about their stories, how they covered the war, and what they were allowed to report back. Deadline: Iraq is the result.

It was fascinating and horrifying to read the journalists' accounts of the war, without a (powerful) filter. Reading this story reminds me how differently news can be spun. It also reminds me how much I took for granted getting much of my news from a non-profit organization that operates under the BBC model and is not driven by making money like most of the news organizations in the US.

CBC will be repeating its much﷓talked about documentary, 'Deadline Iraq:
Uncensored Stories of the War'.

The film has been called the "single program that is required viewing" by
John Doyle of The Globe and Mail.

These are the stories that weren't told by the media during the Iraq
war. CBC NEWS goes straight to the source, to over 50 journalists, camera
operators and photographers from news organizations around the world,
who reveal the lethal risks they faced, as well as the untold horrors
they witnessed.

Seen only in Canada on the CBC, Sunday 30 November 2003 at 10:00 AM and
12 Noon on CBC NewsWorld.

Great Job CBC. It will take the American Biased Media 100 years to get there! They are experts in covering high school Foot Ball games!
