The Anonymous Truth-Teller

At the bottom of most pages on ESPN.com, there is a link for visitors to submit bugs, which usually take the form of content inaccuracies or browser incompatibilities. Every night, there is a Technical Producer who works until midnight, and it is his or her responsibility to go through the bugs and fix the fixable problems.

So, tonight, I'm cleaning out my inbox, and I open an email from my third day at work at ESPN.com (back in 2002) to find a submitted bug that I found funny and but had forgotten to post here. The bug occurred on a page listing NHL teams and their enforcers:

"Not so much a bug, but for the upteen millionth time, you omitted the Carolina Hurricanes. I wonder what Jesse Boulerice would do if he knew? You can all go to hell. Of course, if you're in Bristol, you're already 90% of the way there. STOP SLAMMING NORTH CAROLINA AND THE HURRICANES. You're nothing more than a bunch of babies."

As I recall, he was right about omission of the Hurricanes and their enforcer Jesse Boulerice, but so wrong about Bristol--it's really closer to 95% of the way to hell.
