Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6)

Rowling outdid herself here. The sixth edition in the Harry Potter saga is the best yet: it is a page-turner with a shocking ending.
The story is much more focused than the past Harry Potter books, and there are fewer inconsequential subplots that made past books unnecessarily long and the movies boring. This book is also darker, less angsty, and more grown up; the tone and style reflect the growth of Harry and his pals at Hogwart's.
It's a tremendous summer read, and the ending left me--and most who've read the book, I imagine--eagerly anticipating the seventh and final book in the series.
