Some stuff from Okinawa

:
Karaoke. Not like you'd imagine. A private room with neon stickers all over the walls. It seats about 10, with mostly older Western songs on the playlists. A bad rendition of Stan occurs.
The Peace Park. The final battle occurred on this site between the Japanese and the US for control of Okinawa island. 120,000 died.
The Peace Park museum. Seems the Japanese treated the Okinawans like cannon fodder during WW2. Killed them for speaking the local dialect, accused them of being spies. Okinawa still gets shit on by The Rest Of Japan. Contracts to develop the island rarely go to local companies.
Okinawa City. Home to a bunch of US military. The main drag has clothing stores that sell nothing but Phat Farm, Rocawear, Sean John, etc. Unexpected.
Kokusaiweb.net. A company with some interesting products to teach people English. The founder is not only trying to start up a business, but do it in Japan, too. Admirable.
Izakayas.
Arigato, hai!
Disappointed by the electronics. Okinawa's not the place to go for cutting-edge technology, but still. It's Japan.
Except for the mobile phones. They kick serious ass--killer screens, attached video cameras (!) and audio that is way more textured than the PC-speaker-like North American phones.
Rain. Three days of it. Prevented me from checking out the highlight of the island: its beaches.
