Just made a deal for a new 2003 Acura RSX

Here's the annoying part: my credit score is great, but I have only been in the US for 17 months. My history is thus not "well enough established' that many lenders will "take a chance" on lending me at an interest rate approaching anything reasonable...try 11.95% in this economic climate--no thanks.
Then, on the other hand, I have a friend who was in the US for a month before getting a loan with a pretty good APR. After a month, the credit reporting agencies haven't even had time to start populating your credit history.
Inconsistencies like that annoy me.
