[-New York-] Went to Bowling for Columbine today

.

Things I wondered/noticed while watching:

  1. Video of planes hitting the World Trade Center are as horrifying over a year later as they were on September 11, 2001

  2. Director Michael Moore makes some good points, among them:
The Culture of Fear that is bred by the media contributes heavily to the Gun Culture
Money is ultimately at the root of many of the problems that underlie the gun problem in the US

  3. I was left wondering what ended up on the cutting room floor in order for Moore to present his agenda.

  4. The movie was somewhat unfocused, because Moore was trying to weave themes of racism, welfare, greedy corporations, and hypocracy in the US government and US foreign policy into the theory that guns are out of control in the US.

  5. Moore does not hesitate to badger the head of the NRA, Charlton Heston, who at the time was in the early stages of Alzheimer's. It's quite uncomfortable to watch, especially considering up until the meeting with Heston, Moore plays the shuffling, unkempt filmmaker, who makes his points mostly through polite, humorous, roundabout questioning. With Heston, Moore turns into a harsh and direct questioner who does not hesitate to go for the jugular.

A good movie though, and definitely worth seeing sooner rather than later.
