Living with a fledgling drug dealer

Geneve got a job offer from Ventiv Health on Friday!

Ventiv does not develop drugs themselves, but contracts sales reps to pharmaceutical companies to sell their drugs.

So if G accepts the job, she will be selling a drug made by Watson Pharmaceuticals to help those with overactive bladders.

A Pharmaceutical Sales Rep position is exactly what she wanted, and one of the guys she interviewed with told her that she killed her competition for the position. All this, with no prior sales experience! It's interesting to see how much enthusiasm can impress potential employers. I learned that one when I was back in McConnell Hall, interviewing candidates for Floor Fellow (Don / R.A.) positions. My director always said that if a candidate was not exicted about coming to McConnell, forget about 'em.

Aside from the notion that G will be helping people control their diaper wetting, she is also psyched about the flexibility of the job. She is her own boss, and can quantify her performance and contribution to the bottom line. The job has some good perks (Ventiv provides a car, gas card, laptop, and cell phone, she gets to travel a bit and has a big expense account), and the compensation structure is seemingly pretty good.

Everything we've heard about pharmaceutical sales is that it can be a gravy train, and G is quite excited to jump on board!
